Soft Monolith I

In the Soft Monolith series, Magdalena Lubińska works with a dense woollen cloth, treating it as an autonomous sculptural material rather than a functional textile.
The forms emerge through a slow process of accumulation and compression, allowing the natural properties, weight and rhythm of the wool to shape the structure of each object. Layer by layer, the soft surface gradually acquires a monumental, monolithic presence, evoking sediment, rock formations and fragments of landscapes shaped by time.

Traces of manual labour remain embedded in the material, while the tension between the softness of wool and the solidity of the resulting forms creates an unexpected shift in perception. The works exist between textile and sculpture, softness and weight, the archaic and the contemporary.
