Karolina Pawłowska
Karolina Pawłowska (b. 1992) works with precious metals, treating them as a medium for meaning, memory, and transformation. In her practice, she employs traditional goldsmithing techniques - from melting silver to shaping and chemically treating its surface - which serve as a starting point for intuitive and experimental interventions into the material. She redefines the functional object, giving it an autonomous, contemporary character while revealing its symbolic potential, open to the viewer's individual interpretation.
Her works evolve through the tension between precise, constructed form and the processual traces of handcraft, existing at the intersection of functionality and sculpture. She creates one-of-a-kind collectible objects that invite a personal relationship with the viewer while emphasizing the metal's continuous capacity for transformation.
An important, though invisible, dimension of her practice is synesthesia. Her approach to form, texture, and color is accompanied by an experience of sound—undulating, subtly shifting, and capable of inducing a suspended, contemplative state. This internal perception is translated into the rhythm, tension, and temporality of her objects.
Pawłowska began her independent artistic practice in 2025. Her work has been presented at exhibitions at Objekt Gallery, Collectible, Crafitica Gallery, and during Museum Night in Wrocław. She also collaborates with the brand Chylak on visual identity projects related to sculpture.
